Camping le Pontet shares with you the snow conditions on the Tour du Mont-Blanc in Les Contamines-Montjoie
Your campsite in Contamines-Montjoie,
With the season just beginning, the Tour du Mont-Blanc is reserved for experienced, well-trained hikers who are properly equipped: mountain boots, gaiters, poles and crampons at the least!
The passes and high altitude sections (between 2000 and 2500m) are covered in snow. We're not talking about snow patches, but long sections of snow! So...
- The paths and markings are not visible, meaning there is a higher risk of getting lost;
- The trek is much more physical: walking in the snow is much longer, more tiring and even exhausting!
- The trek is more physical: walking in the snow is longer, more tiring and even exhausting! Complicated sections are to be feared, with the risk of slipping and sliding when crossing steep, snow-covered corridors, or when crossing torrents where the snow bridges can be fragile!
So far, most hikers who haven't had enough experience have had to stop the adventure!
